Oybin is a small health resort in the Zittau Mountains, in the far south-east of Saxony, close to the Czech border and a little over 100 km from Dresden. The nearest town is Zittau. The village is best known for the Oybin rock above it, which carries the ruins of a medieval castle and a Gothic monastery. A narrow-gauge steam railway runs up from Zittau, and the local economy depends largely on visitors who come for walking, climbing and the scenery.

The market here is small and quiet. It suits buyers interested in tourism, guest accommodation or a second home in the countryside more than those looking for steady residential rent from a large tenant pool.
